Reading About U2

U2 by U2

My students in Creative Media are coming to the end of their Senior year and also to the end of their work as Bloggers. Some might continue the blogs they started, others might use this practice and decide on an another topic to blog about, and some might be finished with blogging. I started this Blog to join my students on this mission to become better at blogging, primarily to become disciplined to write once a week and to have something to write about. This has not always been easy. As much as I love U2, I struggled with topics to write on every now and then.

This week, I decided to remind U2 fans about the great books out there about U2. A true U2 fan will already have these, but just in case…

U2 by U2 by Neil McCormick is a must for any U2 fan. I have it in hardcover and paperback. It is a great coffee table book and filled with incredible pictures of the band, interviews, and stories about them. There is a chapter on each of the band members, their history as a band, and stories from making albums, touring, and everything in between.

With a review from USA Today stating, “Arguably the greatest rock band on the planet, U2 now offers the definitive version of how it got there” even those who aren’t huge fans might want to know how this band has been continually popular and relevant for over 30 years.

A search on Amazon will find over 10 books on U2 or Bono, some trying to be informative and others trying to analyze their songs and more specifically the spirituality behind them.  Here are some titles to check out:

  • U2: The Stories Behind Every U2 Song (Stories Behind the Songs) by Niall Stokes
  • Walk on: The Spiritual Journey of U2 by Steve Stockman
  • We Get to Carry Each Other: The Gospel according to U2 (Gospel According to…) by Greg Garrett
  • U2 Experience by Brian Boyd
  • Into the Heart: The Stories Behind Every U2 Song (The Stories Behind Every Song Series) by Niall Stokes

Happy Reading!
